Vijay calls on Kalanithi Maran

[Tuesday, December 22, 2009]

Happy about the grand opening witnessed by ‘Vettaikkaran’, hero of the film Vijay called on Sun TV Network chairman and managing director Kalanithi Maran, who had released the movie, in Chennai on Tuesday.

The actor thanked the media baron during the meeting that took place at the latter’s office for non-stop promotional activities due to which the film has become a ‘super hit’ all over the world in just three days after its release.

Vijay was accompanied by his father and filmmaker S A Chandrasekaran. They presented a bouquet and a shawl to Kalanithi Maran. Sun Pictures chief operations officer Hansraj Saxena was also present during the meeting.

“Vettaikkaran received a grand opening only due to promotions made by Sun Pictures. I am happy about the outcome. Hence I wanted to thank Kalanithi Maran, who is instrumental behind the film’s success,” said Vijay.

Produced by M Balasubramaniam and B Gurunath Meiyappan for AVM Productions, the film directed by Babu Sivan hit the screens Friday last.

Vettaikkaran’s villain speaks out

[Tuesday, December 22, 2009]

For those who had wondered while watching ‘Vettaikkaran’ as to who is this menacing villain, he is Ravishankar, the brother of popular Telugu actor Saikumar. For those who need additional information about him, he is the owner of the deadly voice ‘Arundhatheeee….’ in the Anushka starrer that created waves a few months ago.

A popular dubbing artiste, Ravishankar had given voice in more than 2,300 films. He had even won a State award from the Tamil Nadu government for his performance in ‘Dhil’, apart from other accolades from various quarters.

“One day, director Babu Sivan saw me in a dubbing studio. He wanted me to play the role in ‘Vettaikkaran’ on seeing my hairstyle and body language. I initially had apprehensions to cross swords with Vijay as he has a huge fan following here. But things went on all and everyone is lauding me now,” he says.

On the requisite of a villain, he says, “Many say my menacing looks and mannerisms added value to the character I did. But I feel that an actor who is playing a baddie should have a positive attitude more than anything else to do the role.”

Happy about being a dubbing artiste, Ravishankar says, “It was the profession that fed me for the past 15 years. I am proud to be a dubbing artiste and would continue my work.”

‘Vettaikkaran’ boosts-up Vijay!

[Tuesday, December 22, 2009]

As ‘Vettaikkaran’ has hit the screens with a good response and is running successfully, Vijay’s dad S A Chandrasekaran had made arrangement to video tape the response from the fans, sources say. Ultimately, what Vijay saw must have boosted him and the actor is all set to rock in his upcoming movies.

Vijay’s ‘Sura’ team, which is back from Hyderabad, is camped at AVM Studios to carry on with the shoot there. We hear that 50% of the shoot is over as of now.

On the other hand, reliable sources had it that our Ilaya Thalapathi has signed a project for R B Choudary’s Super Good films. And this new project is said to be directed by Lingusamy.

It’s worthy to mention that Vijay’s next was supposed to be with Aascar Ravichandran; either ways let’s wait to hear it from the concerned parties.

Not only this is an astronomical sum, it’s also quite unusual of Sun to procure the rights of a movie while it’s still under production. Sun also owns the distribution rights of Vijay’s Vettaikaran which is being released on December 18.

Sura is directed by S P Rajkumar and produced by Sangili Murugan. Touted to be a comic caper, Sura has Tamannah cast opposite Vijay. Vadivelu, a staple in Vijay movies is also present.

December 10, 2009

With Vettaikaran, the Vijay starrer, is due to be released this month, the expectations have been sky rocketing, more so because Sun Pictures is marketing the film. The songs of Vettaikaran, which is already topping the charts, is another reason for movie buffs expecting the film.

Yet another news we have is that a major portion of Vetaikaran has been shot in the sets that was erected at the AVM Studios. The set, which looks typically like the MGR Nagar market, has been made by art director Milind.

Vettaikaran has Anushka pairing up with Ilayathalapathi for the first time.

‘Vettaikkaran’ does big business!

[Tuesday, December 08, 2009]

Sun Pictures has reportedly sold the rights of Vijay’s ‘Vettaikkaran’ for a record price in Karnataka and Kerala.

Though the rate at which the film was sold to the neighbouring state was not announced, this business is said to have created a new record for a Vijay film in the last two years. The film’s unit has confirmed that the selling has been made at a price which is almost equivalent to the Rajini starrers releasing in those states.

‘Vettaikkaran’ will be releasing in almost 75 theatres in Kerala alone. And it’s noteworthy that prior to this, it’s was Superstar’s ‘Sivaji’ that made a giant opening in 150 theatres.

Sources in the know say that ‘Vettaikkaran’ will be clashing with Mammootty and Mohanlal starrers this Christmas season. ‘Vettaikkaran’ will battle against Mammootty mass entertainer ‘Chattambinaadu’ and Mohanlal’s ‘Ivide Swargam Aanu’. Remember that Vijay’s ‘Pokkiri’ had its successful 100th day celebration in Kerala. In the meantime it is rumoured that Vettaikkaran’s overseas rights has been snapped up by a Singapore based distribution company.

The production house has already started the promotion of ‘Vettaikkaran’ on a full swing. Sun Pictures is generously investing on the film’s promotion in all major cities with vinyl hoardings and advertisements. On the other hand ‘Vettaikkaran’ songs by Vijay Antony are slowly climbing up the audio charts.

Vijay to hunt big?

[Saturday, December 05, 2009]

Recently our Ilaya Thalapathy was romancing his heroine Tamannah for the first time, on a magnificent set erected by art director Vijay Murugan in AVM Studios. And now the team has erected a set that looks like a local slum on the ECR. While Vijay is busy with his works for 'Sura' on a full swing, he is planning about his next one too.

There were a lot of speculations that the actor is holding talks with directors like Ramana, K.V.Anand, Lingusamy, ‘Jayam’ Raja, Siddhique and Fazil and lastly with Seeman too. Anyway sources in the know earlier confirmed that Vijay has fixed his mind to work with ‘Jayam’ Raja finally.

And now enters anew story. It was said that Vijay's project with ‘Jayam’ Raja will be produced by Aascar Ravichandran, but now we have another big name entering his game. Yup, Durai Dayanidhi who produced 'Varanam Aayiram' is said to have opened an attractive offer before Vijay. Let's expect an official announcement on this buzz soon...

Ilayathalapathy’s Vijay’s Thalapathi

4th Dec, 09
Whether appearances or endorsements, our stars are sure to bring moolah into the megamalls. The latest buzz in tinsel town is all about Vijay’s 51st movie.

According to sources, Vijay has signed a film with Ascar Ravichandran which will be his 51st film of his career. The movie is to be directed by Jeyam raja and it will be reportedly called Thalapathi. And wondering who will be the heroine?
It’s none other than, Asin who will star opposite vijay.

While the classic Thalapathy which had Rajni-Mamooty directed by Mani Rathnam dealt with friendship, this Thalapathi will be a family entertainer with loads of action, says a source.

we are sure we can expect a great entertainer!!

Asin to Pair with Vijay again!?!

[Wednesday, December 02, 2009]

Everyone was thinking if Asin would ever come down to south after her Hindi 'Ghajini' became a super hit there. As she was paring with big shot there the actress even changed her base from Chennai to Mumbai.

But like a sudden jolt we hear news about Asin returning to South to pair with our Vijay. Birdies say that this maybe because the girl’s latest release ‘London Dreams’ did not make business like her previous hit.

Looks like the Malabar beauty did not get any further Bollywood offers and was waiting for a good offer. But then when she came to Chennai for getting her Kalaimamani Award from the TN government, she caught the Sura of South - Ilaya Thalapathy Vijay!

Remember a film that is in pipeline, for which ‘Jayam’ Raja is directing Vijay under the banner of Aascar Films? Yeah, it’s for the same project, say the sources in the know.

After ‘Pokkiri’, we can see Vijay romancing Asin in this one! It’s also worthy to mention that Asin’s last film in Tamil ‘Dasavatharam’ was for Aascar Films.
