Sun Pictures has reportedly sold the rights of Vijay’s ‘Vettaikkaran’ for a record price in Karnataka and Kerala.
Though the rate at which the film was sold to the neighbouring state was not announced, this business is said to have created a new record for a Vijay film in the last two years. The film’s unit has confirmed that the selling has been made at a price which is almost equivalent to the Rajini starrers releasing in those states.
‘Vettaikkaran’ will be releasing in almost 75 theatres in Kerala alone. And it’s noteworthy that prior to this, it’s was Superstar’s ‘Sivaji’ that made a giant opening in 150 theatres.
Sources in the know say that ‘Vettaikkaran’ will be clashing with Mammootty and Mohanlal starrers this Christmas season. ‘Vettaikkaran’ will battle against Mammootty mass entertainer ‘Chattambinaadu’ and Mohanlal’s ‘Ivide Swargam Aanu’. Remember that Vijay’s ‘Pokkiri’ had its successful 100th day celebration in Kerala. In the meantime it is rumoured that Vettaikkaran’s overseas rights has been snapped up by a Singapore based distribution company.
The production house has already started the promotion of ‘Vettaikkaran’ on a full swing. Sun Pictures is generously investing on the film’s promotion in all major cities with vinyl hoardings and advertisements. On the other hand ‘Vettaikkaran’ songs by Vijay Antony are slowly climbing up the audio charts.
